Risk is a strategic war game where the objective is to conquer other players’ territories. Initially, random territories are assigned to players, and they must place their soldiers in those areas. To win, territories must be conquered by attacking and defending thru dice rolls.
In the classic method, the number of players is 2-5, and players receive a specific number of soldiers and choose their territories. The winner of this game is the player who captures all 42 territories.
How to play two-player
The way to play a two-player game is the same as a 3-to-5 player game.
In a two-player game, two armies are controlled by two players, while the remaining armies are neutral and serve only as obstacles for the main players. You can attack them to clear a path for yourself.
In the two-player method, you don’t need ceasefire and mission cards.
Shuffle the territory cards and deal 12 cards to each person.
We will give each neutral army 6 territory cards.
We arrange our forces on the board based on the color of the realm cards and their stars.
We do the same for neutral army forces and arrange their troops based on their cards.
Now we’ll shuffle all the cards again.
We give each neutral army 3 territory cards and place a soldier of the same color on the cards.
At the beginning of each turn, before any player starts playing, they must choose one of the neutral armies, take 3 soldiers of that color, and place them in the areas corresponding to that army. You can place all 3 soldiers in the same area, or you can place each of them in a separate area from the rest of the army.
During the game, for every neutral army you eliminate, you can claim the 3 cards placed under that army.
The game ends when you can control 30 areas or eliminate the opposing player from the game.
In these explanations, we’ve described how to play the two-player game. This game can be played with others in 4 different modes, and all of these details and how to play are in the instruction booklet included in the game box. You can easily play and enjoy the game in any method and with any number of people.
Important Notes
In each round of attack, if you can conquer a territory, you can win a territory card.
You can strengthen your territories, but you can’t leave any territory empty.
If you take control of all the territories on a continent, the number of soldiers specified next to that continent will be added to your forces at the beginning of your next turn.
If you lose all your territories, you will be eliminated from the game.
